J. Raymond Meyers-Tenor has sung on many of the major stages across the country. Recent roles include Rodolfo, Duke, Belmonte, Ernesto, Hoffmann, Pinkerton, and Alfred. He was Tenor Soloist with the San Francisco Ballet in last season's West Side Story Suite, and toured China last summer as Tenor soloist in Carmina Burana with Ballet San Jose. Other performances include leading and character roles with the opera companies of Anchorage, Tampa, Grand Rapids, Toledo, San Jose, Portland, Santa Barbara, Sacramento, San Francisco Lyric, Utah Festival, Sonoma City, Pocket Opera and two seasons with San Francisco Opera covering roles in Carmen, Madama Butterfly and Falstaff.

  On the concert stage, the tenor is well known for his portrayal of the roasting swan in Carmina Burana. Whether as a “roasting swan” or as guest soloist, he has appeared with the New West, Napa Valley, Modesto, Santa Rosa, Stockton, Diablo Valley, Redwood, Santa Cruz and Monterey Symphonies.

Mr. Meyers made his Motion Picture debut last November portraying an opera singer in the Oscar winning Gus van Sant / Sean Penn Movie, Milk.

Upcoming engagements include: West Side Story Suite with San Francisco Ballet, Carmina Burana with Peninsula Symphony, La Boheme with Rogue Opera, and La Rondine with Opera San Jose.

Happy Birthday, Paul Bowles

Ensemble Parallèle will participate in the celebration of Paul Bowles' 100 year birthday celebration by performing the West-Coast premiere of three works. Choreographer Tandy Beal joins the Ensemble for the occasion. (4th February 2011).
